New Poetry Jukebox Commemorates Irish History in The People's Park

The People's Park in Limerick City is now home to a new Poetry Jukebox as part of Poetry as Commemoration, an initiative led by UCD Library with support from the Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media under the Decade of Centenaries Programme 2012-2023.

Dragon’s Den Style Selection to Choose UL Projects that Contribute to a Sustainable Future.

Billed as an academic cross between ‘Dancing with the Stars’ and ‘Dragons’ Den’, the UL50 Citizens’ Assembly will bring together 100 community stakeholders and citizens from Limerick city and county on Thursday, May 25. They will select four projects from University of Limerick that they feel will best contribute to building a sustainable future for Limerick city and county.

UNESCO Learning Cities Gather in Limerick

Learning Limerick hosted a ‘Shared Island’ learning city exchange programme from Monday 15th – Wednesday 17th May for the Irish Network of Learning Cities (INLC). The INLC includes Limerick, Dublin, Cork, Derry Strabane, and Belfast. The three-day programme included a welcome reception in Shannon Rowing Club, a conference and site visits to centres of learning in Limerick.

Limerick Clothing Factory Archive Collection Returns to Limerick

Generations of Limerick people worked at the Limerick Clothing Factory on Lord Edward Street from the 1850s through to the 1970s.  The industrial history was preserved during the transformation of the site into a housing development by Limerick City and County Council but many of the key archives were thought to have been lost.

Limerick City & County Council has today published notification of its intention to compulsorily acquire a further 23 derelict properties from across Limerick city and county using its powers under the Derelict Sites Act, 1990. 250th site served with Compulsory Purchase Notice by Limerick City and County Council. Council confirms €6.5m in sales of compulsorily acquired property

The 19th Riverfest Limerick Festival drew massive crowds of people into Limerick City across the May bank holiday weekend. A rising tide truly lifts all boats with bars, restaurants and hotels all benefitting from the tens of thousands of extra people in the city across the four days.
