Limerick City and County Council welcomes conviction for illegal dumping

Limerick City and County Council has welcomed the conviction for illegal dumping of a man at Limerick District Court. Michael Stanners of Pineview Gardens, Moyross was found guilty of illegal dumping and motor vehicle offences following a court case on Friday 05 March 2021. He was fined €100 plus legal costs of €400 and disqualified from driving for one year.

Innovate Limerick is delighted to announce the 15 shortlisted film projects as part of the ENGINE Short Film Scheme. This new ambitious short film development and production scheme for emerging talent in the region received a total of 131 applications.

Limerick City and County Council and An Garda Síochána establish Joint Taskforce to support and assist the community in the St. Mary's Park area of Limerick City

Limerick City and County Council and An Garda Síochána have established a task force as part of Operation Copóg aimed at assisting the community in the St. Mary's Park area of Limerick City. The joint operation will see Limerick City and County Council focusing specifically on a series of projects in the coming weeks, while An Garda Síochána are allocating additional resources to policing the area.

490 volunteers attend Tidy Towns webinar hosted by Limerick City and County Council

A total of 490 volunteers from groups across Limerick city and county attended the most recent Tidy Towns webinar organised by Limerick City and County Council in collaboration with Tidy Towns Unit of the Department of Rural & Community Development. The webinar was the fourth in a series of webinars aimed specifically at Tidy Towns groups, focusing on the application and how best to succeed in the nationwide competition.

Deadline approaching for applications for the Social Enterprise Fund

The deadline for application for the Social Enterprise Development Fund is this Friday 05 March 2021. A total of €400,000 in funding is being made available to social enterprises to help lead the post-Covid economic and social recovery through Rethink Ireland’s Social Enterprise Development Fund 2021.

Limerick’s O’Connell Street revitalisation works to go ahead

Limerick City and County Council has confirmed that work on the €9.1m revitalisation of O’Connell Street will proceed following a review of critical transport infrastructure projects in Limerick. In accordance with the relevant legislation on Covid-19 temporary restrictions, certain essential construction work is permitted. This includes projects involving “the repair, maintenance and construction of critical transport and utility infrastructure”.

Limerick Fairtrade is reminding people that they can ‘Choose the World you want’ when it comes to ethically produced and sustainable products as Fairtrade Fortnight gets underway with a series of virtual events. The purpose of Fairtrade Fortnight is to raise awareness about the positive impact that Fairtrade has on farmers/ producers in the developing world. They face the same challenges that we do, Covid, climate change and economic uncertainty.
