Future of one of Limerick’s most well-known cultural homes is secured as Limerick City and County Council purchases 9-10 Patrick Street – ‘Ormston House’

The future of one of Limerick’s most recognisable homes for cultural activities, Ormston House, has been secured with the announcement that Limerick City and County Council has purchased 9-10 Patrick Street, Limerick. The purchase comprises of the ground floor and basement and has been made possible with funding from Limerick City and County Council and the JP McManus Benevolent Fund.

Mayor of Limerick City and County calls for ‘urgent clarification’ on delivery and completion of Coonagh-Knockalisheen Road

The Mayor of Limerick City and County, Cllr Michael Collins has called for ‘urgent clarification’ from Minister for Transport, Eamon Ryan TD on the future delivery of the Coonagh-Knockalisheen Road in Limerick. Mayor Collins said the local community in Moyross is ‘frustrated and angry’ at the impasse over the future of the project which is a key part of the Limerick Regeneration Framework implementation plan.

Welcome for key step in move to Directly Elected Mayor

The Mayor of the Limerick City and County, Cllr Michael Collins, has welcomed the approval by Government for the drafting of legislation for the new role of Ireland’s first directly elected mayor with executive powers. The election for the post of Directly Elected Mayor is expected to take place before the end of 2021, with the first term running until the local elections of 2029.

Limerick City and County Council continues to engage and respond to the latest Irish Business Against Litter (IBAL) report. Although the council is disappointed not to have re-established its ‘Clean to European Norms’ standard in the city, overall it was a more positive report for the city than mid-year of 2019.

Final call for submissions for the ENGINE Short Film Scheme

The countdown is on to the deadline for Engine Short Film Scheme, an ambitious new short film scheme for emerging screen talent based in Limerick, Tipperary and Clare. Run by Innovate Limerick through Film in Limerick, Engine Shorts is a partnership between the Local Authorities in Tipperary, Limerick and Clare, and Limerick and Clare Education and Training Board.

Mayor welcomes 100 new jobs in Limerick and the Mid-West

Mayor of Limerick city and county, Cllr Michael Collins has welcomed the announcement that more than 100 jobs will be created in Limerick and the Mid-West over the next three years by Indigo Telecom Group. 4site, a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Indigo Telecom Group Limited, a global provider of telecom and data centre network support services, today announced its recruitment plans, to support its plans for international expansion across the Mid-West.

Limerick receives over €100,000 in funding towards outdoor recreation amenities

Six Limerick projects will receive a total of €106,548 in funding towards outdoor recreation amenities as part of the Government’s Outdoor Recreation Infrastructure Scheme. Minister for Rural and Community Development, Heather Humphreys TD today (Monday) announced details of the scheme which provides funding for the development, promotion and maintenance of outdoor amenities such as trails, walkways, cycleways, and blueways.

ENGINE Short Film Scheme info session for local Filmmakers

Innovate Limerick, through Film in Limerick are holding an online information session on Monday 18 January at 1pm for anyone interested in finding out more about the ENGINE Short Film Scheme. Limerick receives a total of €679,901 in funding under Town and Village Renewal Scheme

Limerick City and County Council has been successful in receiving funding for six projects under the Town and Village Renewal Scheme 2020, announced today (Friday). Projects in Feenagh, Glin, Croom, Caherconlish, Doon and Rathkeale will share funding of €679,901 in the scheme which focuses on projects which can help to enhance rural towns and villages, with a particular emphasis on stimulating economic development.
