Limerick people are being encouraged to think Limerick, shop local and stay safe this Christmas as businesses prepare for what is traditionally their busiest periods of the year. Limerick City and County Council and Limerick Chamber have issued a joint appeal to the people of Limerick to support Limerick businesses and to remember all the basic safety precautions when it is time to do their Christmas shopping.

The Mayor of the City and County of Limerick has congratulated the Limerick hurlers on winning their second All-Ireland Senior Hurling title in three years, while also securing the Munster Championship and National League titles and going the year unbeaten.

New Keep Well Walking Challenge to encourage people to walk for 30 minutes every day for three weeks.

Limerick Sports Partnership in association with Sport Ireland, Get Ireland Walking , Healthy Ireland and Limerick City and County Council are encouraging people of all ages to walk into 2021 by taking part in the Keep Well Walking Challenge, which gets underway today (Friday 11 Dec).

An Age Friendly Housing Technical Advisors has been assigned in Limerick City and County Council to work with older people to source appropriate accommodation. Similar advisors have also been assigned to the other 30 other local authorities across the country representing another substantial development in the collaborative approach to Health and Housing for Older People in Ireland.

New short film scheme launches for regional filmmakers

Short Film Scheme is a new ambitious short film development and production scheme for emerging talent that are based in Limerick, Tipperary and Clare. Run by Innovate Limerick through Film in Limerick, Engine Shorts is a partnership between the Local Authorities in Limerick, Tipperary and Clare, and Limerick and Clare Education and Training Board.

Limerick Food Partnership to raise awareness, access and supply of healthy food options

The official relaunch of the Limerick Food Partnership (LFP) by Cllr. Michael Collins, Mayor of the City and County of Limerick, took place on Monday 07 December in Limerick Milk Market. The Food Partnership - a collaboration between community, voluntary and statutory organisations involved in food-related initiatives - aims to raise awareness, improve access and increase the supply of healthy food options in Limerick city and county.
