Your decision counts! Limerick City and County Council and HSE remind homeowners not to buy or use ‘smoky’ coal

Limerick City and County Council and the Health Service Executive are reminding the public that the distribution, marketing, sale and burning of bituminous or ‘smoky’ coal is illegal in the greater Limerick City area. The joint appeal comes as the weather begins to turn with cooler temperatures returning, resulting in the more people putting on their heating in their homes.

Rediscover the Joy of Upcycling

October is Ireland’s National Reuse Month and to celebrate Limerick City and County Council is hosting a number of webinars aimed at getting more people to Reduce, Reuse and Recycle. It’s about valuing our stuff, by using and reusing it for as long and as often as possible. This avoids the need to extract raw materials, manufacture and distribute new stuff, and avoids waste, thereby cutting down on greenhouse gas emissions.

€281,000 boost for Sport and Physical Activity Measures in Limerick

Sport and physical activity in Limerick has received a welcome boost, with €281,005 being allocated to Limerick Sports Partnership (LSP) through the Dormant Accounts Fund. The allocation is part of a total investment package of €7.3m in Dormant Accounts Funding announced by Sport Ireland for a wide range of sport and physical activity measures countrywide.

Hurling superstar Cian Lynch inspires as he turns Bainisteoir for Limerick 50 Days of Summer top prize

Five young Limerick hurling fanatics went to school on a high this week after enjoying a once in a lifetime opportunity to train with All Ireland winning legend Cian Lynch. Nine year old Rory McCarthy, from Cappamore was entered into Limerick City and County Council’s 50 Days of Summer competition by his mum Miriam which saw him win a VIP training session for himself and some lucky friends.

No change in Limerick’s Local Property Tax for 2021

There will be no change in the levels of Local Property Tax (LPT) payable by Limerick homeowners for 2021 following a meeting of Limerick City and County Council this afternoon. Councillors voted in favour of increasing the LPT by 15% from the base rate for 2021, which means there will be no change to the LPT next year.
