A further 10,000 PPE face masks have been donated to the people of Limerick, this time from the Chinese community in Limerick on behalf of the Irish Chinese Information Centre. In one of his final engagements as Mayor of the City and County of Limerick, Mayor Michael Sheahan received the consignment from Limerick-resident and President of the Irish Chinese Information Centre, Candy Cheung. 

The Limerick Public Participation Network (PPN) Secretariat is inviting their members to nominate representatives for election to a number of Limerick City and County Council committees. These are the five Strategic Policy Committees, the Joint Policing Committee for Limerick City and County and the Limerick Local Community Development Committee (LCDC).

As part of the Guiding Limerick Through Covid-19 plans, Limerick City and County Council is inviting Expressions of Interest from local community groups, companies, creatives and producers for Limerick city and county animations and activities, to take place this July and August.

One of the world’s most famous feature film editors, Joe Bini is the latest expert to give the Wednesday Workshop to local and regional filmmakers. The free online event will take place on Wednesday 1 July at 2pm and is the final event in the current series of webinars run by Innovate Limerick through Film in Limerick for aspiring and practicing filmmakers in the Mid-West. 

The people of Limerick are being set a challenge to be active this Sunday 28 June as part of the Sport Ireland National BeActive Day. Limerick Sports Partnership and the other 28 Local Sports Partnerships around the country are coming together to celebrate a day of physical activity and sport and want you to join in and be active.

A new audio exhibition has been installed in Limerick City Gallery of Art counting down to when the gallery re-opens the public on Monday 29 June. The Blurry Clock has been installed at the main entrance to the building and is a collaboration with the Irish World Academy of Music and Dance at the University of Limerick.

With funding from the Heritage Council and as part of Limerick’s European Green Leaf Year, Limerick City and County Council has commissioned a series of stunning pollinator and biodiversity friendly landscaping schemes for eight of the city’s most prominent roundabouts.

Museum re-opens on Monday 29 June following Covid-19 lockdown.

An iconic Limerick Lace shawl belonging to Kitty Kiernan (1892-1945), fiancée of Irish revolutionary Michael Collins, has been acquired by Limerick Museum.

The Mayor of the City and County of Limerick Cllr Michael Sheahan has expressed his sympathies to the family and colleagues of Detective Garda Colm Horkan, who was killed in the line of duty on Wednesday night (17 June 2020) in Castlerea, Co. Roscommon. Mayor Sheahan has opened a book of condolences in his memory.
