20,000 medical grade masks donated free of charge by Nanjing to Limerick care homes

The seeds of friendship planted a decade ago almost 10,000km away bore fruit this week when medical grade masks worth as much as €100,000 on the open market were donated to care homes across Limerick through the Age Friendly programme. The 20,000 masks, which have a regular retail price of up to €5 each, arrived late last week all the way from Nanjing in China thanks to a relationship built with authorities there a decade ago by then Limerick Mayor Jim Long.

All Council-owned playgrounds and exercise equipment re-open across Limerick

Limerick City and County Council is pleased to announce the re-opening of its playgrounds, skate parks and adult exercise equipment. Over the past number of days, council crews have been sanitising the equipment and cleaning the areas ahead of their re-opening, while some minor repairs also had to be carried out.

Take a Virtual Tour of Corbally Wildflower Meadow

Limerick City and County Council is delighted to announce a Virtual Tour of Corbally Wildflower Meadow, as part of its European Green Leaf 2020 programme of events. This is a wonderful opportunity to learn more about Limerick’s Corbally Meadow, which is a haven for wildlife with more than 120 species of wildflowers and insects living there.

Play with The Three Muses

Three cultural institutions in Limerick City have developed an online game to engage young learners while the doors of schools and museums are shut. Play with The Three Muses is a new online resource for children to discover the visual art collections of The Hunt Museum, Limerick Museum and Limerick City Gallery of Art through quizzes and games, created by ArtStories, an Italian educational games maker.

Spike Lee’s editor to deliver editing workshop for local filmmakers

The editor of Spike Lee’s new feature Da 5 Bloods and last year’s OSCAR winning film Roma, Adam Gough, will be giving the next Wednesday Workshop for local filmmakers. The free online event will take place on Wednesday 17 June at 2pm and is the latest in a series of webinars run by Innovate Limerick through Film in Limerick for aspiring and practicing filmmakers in the Mid-West.

Limerick’s libraries to re-open on a phased basis

Four of Limerick’s libraries re-open today for ‘Contact and Collect’ service as part of a phased re-opening of the full library service. This will allow library members to pre-order and collect books, audio books and DVDs at either Dooradoyle, Watch House Cross, Kilmallock or Newcastle West branches between the hours of 10am to 1pm and 2pm to 4pm, Tuesday to Friday.
