Innovators set challenge to find solutions for Positive Energy Transition and Laneways of Georgian Limerick

Limerick City and County Council is calling for creative and innovative solutions to rejuvenate its Georgian Neighbourhood. Limerick’s Georgian Neighbourhood is being used as a test bed to develop smart city applications such as prototyping to revitalise the district. This will be achieved in close cooperation with the various stakeholders: citizens, companies, local authority and researchers.

Work to begin shortly on Regional Athletics Hub in Newcastle West

Work is to begin shortly on a new Regional Athletics Hub for Newcastle West in County Limerick following a grant totalling just over €1.25 million under the Large Scale Sport Infrastructure Fund. €1,256,276 has been awarded for the new regional athletics hub at Cloonyschrehane, Newcastle West, which includes the construction of an athletics track to international IAAF standard, floodlights and all associated track facilities with disability access.

One of Limerick City Gallery’s most treasured pieces is London-bound

One of the most treasured pieces in Limerick City Gallery of Art’s Permanent Collection is heading to London, to be included in a major exhibition about mushrooms at Somerset House. The Mushroom Book is being loaned to the exhibition titled, Mushrooms: The Art, Design and Future of Fungi to be held at Somerset House, London from 31st January until 26th April 2020.

Limerick Public Participation Network now has 100 members

The Limerick Public Participation Network now has 100 members and is calling on community and voluntary groups and organisations to help citizens take an active role in policy development committees of Limerick City and County Council. The Public Participation Network allows community groups around the country to connect with their local authority to give citizens a greater say in local government decision making. The PPN is managed by a committee of volunteers, called the Secretariat, on behalf of all its members.

New waste campaign premieres in Limerick cinemas

A new campaign urging people to only use licensed operators to remove their rubbish has premiered in cinemas across Limerick. 'Man with a Van’ is a new animation short which reminds us all to only use an operator with a waste collection permit when disposing of waste. The permit number must be shown clearly on the side of their vehicle.

Old Christmas trees to be used throughout the year as bark mulch

Limerick City and County Council is urging everyone to be more conscious about their waste over the Christmas period and to recycle, reuse or repurpose as much as they can. Householders are being encouraged to avail of the services provided by the local authority in the coming weeks in an effort to reduce to amount of waste going to landfill.

Awards Season for Limerick City and County Council

Limerick City and County Council is celebrating after receiving awards for three separate projects - Kilmallock West Wall Project, Nicholas Street Regeneration Project and Watch House Cross Community Library.
