Limerick City and County Council orders demolition of Horizon Mall

Limerick City and County Council has served the owners of the Horizon Mall with an order to demolish the partially built structure at the Parkway Valley site on the Dublin Road. Using its powers under the Derelict Sites Act 1990, the Council is ordering the owners, Novelty ICAV, to raze the building to the ground, with work to be completed within six months.

Limerick City and County Council, the Land Development Agency (LDA), CIÉ and other stakeholders have today announced plans to explore how a strategic land bank in excess of 50 hectares under state ownership can be re-imagined and re-developed to create a new 21st Century urban neighbourhood at Limerick’s city centre train and bus station, Colbert Station.

Operation to recover illegally occupied bay in Limerick Halting Site

Limerick City and County Council undertook an operation to recover a halting site bay in Clonlong Halting Site, Galvone, Limerick, which had been occupied illegally. Following a Circuit Court ruling, Limerick City and County Council organised a multi-agency operation, which involved the hiring of a specialist bailiff company to assist in the recovery.

It's National Reuse Month - Let’s Think About Consumption

October is Ireland’s National Reuse Month and to mark it a new exhibition called Let’s Think About Consumption has been opened in the Parkway Shopping Centre in Limerick. Let’s Think About Consumption challenges us to think about what we consume, bring us beyond the idea of ‘reduce, reuse and recycle’, to a more conscious prevention of waste in the first place.

Analog Devices makes sporting gesture to Mungret Community

Limerick City and County Council has welcomed the announcement that Analog Devices has transferred ownership of the two pitches which were once used by the multinationals Sports & Social Club to the Council for the benefit of the community of Mungret, Raheen and Doordoyle.

Dolores O’Riordan Music Bursary announced

Limerick City and County Council and the family of Dolores O’Riordan are pleased to announce the establishment of a Music Bursary in memory of the Cranberries singer. Dolores O’Riordan died suddenly in London on 15 January 2018, sending waves of sadness across Limerick and around the world.
