Limerick City and County Council is compiling a Repair Directory for Limerick with the aim of encouraging repair and reuse as a method of reducing waste.
- Throw-away society being binned as people see the value in repairing or reusing items
More and more people are seeing the value in getting items repaired, giving some furniture a bit of TLC or finding new uses for things, than ever before. Have you ever wanted to get something mended or fixed, but didn’t know where to go?
Limerick City and County Council is lending a helping hand by compiling a Repair Directory for Limerick. The aim is to encourage repair and reuse as a method of reducing waste. We would like to include as many repair services from across Limerick city and county as possible.
If you have a Repair Business or are involved in the business of Repair and wish to be included please email firstname.lastname@example.org or phone 061 556000.
There will be no cost to the business to be listed in the directory but Limerick City and County Council cannot advocate or endorse any particular listing.
Sinead Mc Donnell, Environment Awareness Officer with Limerick City and County Council said: "As well as being important to waste management, repair and reuse are also an important part of the local economy. The Council is hoping to capture information and make it available to the general public. There would be no cost to a business to be listed in this directory.”
The Limerick directory is being compiled as a waste prevention action under the Southern Regional Waste Management Plan.
