Limerick’s Libraries, Limerick Museum and Limerick City Gallery of Art to close as part of response to COVID-19

All 16 branches of Limerick’s Libraries, Limerick Museum and Limerick City Gallery of Art will close from 6pm this evening [12 March 2020] and these closures will stay in place until 29 March 2020.

An Taoiseach Leo Varadkar has this Thursday morning announced that all cultural institutions will close as Ireland has entered into a new phase in dealing with the COVID-19 Coronavirus pandemic.

All 16 branches of Limerick’s Libraries, Limerick Museum and Limerick City Gallery of Art will close from 6pm this evening [12 March 2020] and these closures will stay in place until 29 March 2020.

In addition, all Council meetings scheduled to take place over the next two weeks:

  • Monthly Meeting of the Municipal District of Cappamore-Kilmallock [19 March]
  • Party Leaders’ Meeting [23 March]
  • Protocol Committee Meeting [23 March]
  • Full Meeting of Limerick City and County Council [23 March]

have all been deferred until further notice.

Limerick City and County Council will continue to provide all other services to the people of Limerick.

Customers Services remain open in Merchant’s Quay and Dooradoyle, along with the District Offices in Kilmallock, Newcastle West and Rathkeale.

To help prevent the spread of the virus members of the public are being reminded to follow the advice from health experts: Wash; Cover; Avoid and Clean and when visiting any of the Council offices to use the hand sanitizers provided.

The Council’s Crisis Management Team continues to meet daily to monitor the COVID-19 pandemic and act on the advice of the Government and Department of Health.
