Limerick City and County Council has today (Wednesday December 21) published its Gender Pay Gap Report for 2022. The gender pay gap is the difference in the average hourly wage of men and women across a workforce. Employers with more than 250 employees in Ireland are now required to publish their gender pay gap data.

Limerick City and County Council employs a workforce of nearly 1400 employees. As an organisation, Limerick City and County Council seeks to enhance Limerick’s attraction as a place in which to invest, work, and live, and takes the lead role in shaping the strategic vision of the county.

Chief executive of Limerick City and County Council Dr Pat Daly commented “This is the first year of reporting on Gender Pay and Limerick City and County Council welcomes the opportunity to do so.

“Issues of gender pay differences is an important one, not only to the workplace but also to wider society. People are at the core of our organisation – we continue to strive to promote and sustain an inclusive organisational culture, which provides equality of opportunity and where every employee feels valued.

“We will examine what the gender pay gap figures can tell us about our organisation and this will help inform our action plans. We will work with our colleagues across the sector to share best practice and will continue to monitor these trends over time and look forward to next year’s figures”

The 2022 report shows a Gender Pay Gap for all employees of 6.02% mean and -1.37% median. (see link to report below for workings)

The Mean Gender Pay Gap shows that on average, females are paid €1.46 less than males. The Median Gender Pay Gap shows that the median rate of pay for females is €0.30 higher than the median rate of pay for males.
