Limerick City and County Council making it easier for people to get on the Supplementary Register for upcoming election

Limerick City and County Council is making it easier for people to be included on the Supplementary Register of Electors and registered to vote in the upcoming General Election. The Council is hosting a four-hour event in its Corporate Headquarters in Merchant’s Quay on Tuesday 21 January 2020 between 10am and 2pm to help people register.

Closing date for receipt of forms to apply to be on the Supplementary Register is Wednesday 22 January 2020.

People should take the following steps to ensure that they are correctly registered to vote in the upcoming general election.

  1. Check online at checktheregister.ie if your details are included on the 2019-2020 electoral register. Alternatively, people can check directly with Limerick City and County Council. If your details are included correctly no further action is necessary.
  2. If your details are not included on the 2019-2020 register you should contact Limerick City and County Council and check if your details are included in the supplement to the register of electors. If your details are included in the supplement to the register of electors then no further action is required.
  3. If your details are not included in either the register or the supplement to the register you must fill out the appropriate application form RFA 2 or RFA 3 and, before signing the declaration, bring it along with photo ID to your local Garda station and sign it in the presence of a member of An Garda Síochána, who will then stamp the form.
  4. Forms must reach Limerick City and County Council on or before close of business on 22 January 2020 in order for people to be registered for this election.

To facilitate people to register a garda will be present in Corporate Headquarters on Tuesday 21 January 2020 between 10am and 2pm to sign the relevant documents.  Application forms will be available on the day, while the signed completed forms can then be left in the Council offices for processing.

People wishing to register must bring appropriate photo identification with them on the day.
