Something unusual happening in the city centre this June Bank Holiday weekend.

Limerick City and County Council is inviting people to experience something new in the heart of the city centre this June Bank Holiday weekend.

The Council is inviting people to experience certain areas of the city in a different way than normal throughout the weekend.

This pilot scheme is a way of showing how we can use the city differently, while attracting more people into the city centre.

The project is also about helping to green the city, while ensuring there is a sustainability element to it.

These pop-up events are taking place at the following locations:

  • Catherine Street between Glentworth Street and Cecil Street on Saturday 4th June - afternoon
  • Sarsfield Bridge on Sunday 5th June
  • Honan’s Quay on Monday 6th June

Mayor of the City and County of Limerick Cllr Daniel Butler said: “This is something the Council is trying out and I would encourage everyone to come out and see what it is all about. It is all about changing how we use our city, seeing what can be done with small incremental changes.”

In addition to these pop-up events, Dolans Live at the Docklands makes a welcome return after an absence of two years.

Larger scale gigs now have a home to come to in Limerick and are taking place in the Docklands venue along the Dock Road over the three nights of the weekend.

On Friday night, Jenny Greene and the RTE Concert Orchestra will get things off to a rocking start as the 2FM DJ bangs out the hits in what will be an unbelievable start to the series of gigs.

Limerick’s own Hermitage Green will headline Saturday’s concert, while American band The National will play on Bank Holiday Sunday.

Elsewhere in Limerick, the Medieval Quarter welcomes the return of the Slow Sunday’s market at Treaty City Brewery on Nicholas Street. There will be 10 vendors over two floors selling preloved, vintage and handcrafted goods, a perfect way to relax on the June Bank Holiday weekend.
