ESB cuts discharge rates from Parteen Weir as flood prevention measures continue across parts of Limerick

The ESB has indicated that discharged rates from Parteen Weir will be decreased to 370 m3/ sec today, down from 400 m3/ sec for the past number of days. Flood defences in Castleconnell, Montpelier, Annacotty and Mountshannon Road are continuously being monitored by Limerick City and County Council staff to make sure that pumps are working and defences have not been breached.

Limerick City and County Council will continue to monitor flood levels along the Lower River Shannon, while volunteers from Limerick Civil Defence are also involved in the operation.

The road in Castleconnell from Charco’s to World’s End and Castleconnell Boat Club remains closed.

The Red Path in Corbally remains closed until further notice as does the cycleway/ walkway from Irish Estates, through to the Guinness Bridge, and onwards to UL.

Limerick City and County Council will continue to monitor flood levels on the Shannon and their impact, and is asking people to be mindful over the coming days of returning to lands which have already been heavily saturated as they slowly begin to dry out.
