Community Smoke Alarm Scheme

Limerick Fire Service distributes a limited number of smoke alarms for free to households that currently have no smoke alarm as part of the Community Smoke Alarm Scheme.

The alarms provided are 10 year battery operated smoke alarms.

The Fire Service prioritises the provision of smoke alarms based on need, for example the elderly and people with disabilities.

Applications can be made by:

  • Voluntary groups or persons willing to install the alarm for the proposed alarm recipient  
  • Individual householders who are in a position to install the alarm themselves

Application forms are available in the supporting documents below. A separate application form must be completed in relation to each household proposed to receive a smoke alarm.
