WordPress experts WP Engine have come to Limerick to open their first customer service hub outside the U.S. Founded in 2010, WP Engine is headquartered in Austin, Texas, and has offices in San Francisco, California, San Antonio, Texas, London, England, and now Limerick, Ireland.
VP of Global Comms for WP Engine, Eric Jones said they initially examined a number of locations for the new hub.
“When we began our decision, many months ago, to grow the R&D and customer service organisations globally, we examined a number of locations throughout Europe: London, Dublin, Galway, Cork, Limerick, Kiev, Bucharest and Warsaw. Ultimately, we selected Ireland for a multitude of reasons not the least of which are the incredible people!
"And now over the past few months working with the various organisations and government officials here in Ireland we couldn’t have been more validated in our decision. In fact, there are a lot of similarities between our headquarters, Austin, Texas and Limerick. Both are great places to raise a family, both are centres that support a vibrant day and night-time environment, both are very outdoors oriented and both are surrounded with great educational institutions,” explained Eric.

“Now that we’ve arrived and are physically here in Limerick we have been incredibly appreciative of the warm welcome into the community we’ve received. We feel like we’ve found a home and we’re looking forward to building a stellar team here. Our growth has already been incredible and we’re excited to see our first offerings designed and coded in Ireland,” added Eric.
The company expects to create 100 jobs over the next three years in Limerick, and currently have about 10 people working in the office, with a range of jobs available in service and R&D.

The clear momentum growing for tech companies in the area shows there’s demonstrated expertise in the IT sector with people that have the necessary skills for these positions,” concluded Eric.
