In 2016 Casa Systems, a leading provider of fixed, mobile and Wi-Fi network solutions, established international operations in Limerick, with plans to create 50+ jobs in the next three years.
Founded in 2003 they are headquartered in Andover, just north of Boston.
The facility in Limerick is set up to support their continued growth internationally, bringing Casa Systems (Casa Communications Ltd. in Ireland) closer to European customers and acting as a base for non-US activity. Initial operations include manufacturing, distribution, customer technical support and related activities.
On their decision to locate in Limerick, Tom Kitt, Vice President and General Manager of Casa Communications Ltd. said: “We looked at a number of international and national locations and chose Limerick primarily because of the availability of outstanding talent and the quality of both third level colleges, University of Limerick and Limerick Institute of Technology, where we hope to find much of our talent for the future. We were able to locate a really suitable facility enabling us to support our global customers as part of our 24/7 structure from this European time zone.”
Detailing how the expansion is proceeding so far, Tom said: “Early days but great so far and delighted to report that we are ahead of schedule. We have assembled our first units and even shipped our first customer orders so thrilled with progress to date.”
The new Centre will create 50+ jobs over three years, with 15 people on board already in less than six months. More roles are to come later this year.
“We are actually assembling, testing and distributing electronic cabinets here so great to see the roles of the manufacturing technician and the logistics specialist back in vogue. We have very interesting finance roles, various supply chain roles and plan to further develop our technical support capability during 2017,” explained Tom.
Based in the National Technology Park, high profile neighbours include Cook Medical, Vistakon, and Northern Trust. “It is brilliant to have such great neighbours but I would also add in the brilliant help and support we got from some smaller companies based in the Park like Acacia, ACI payments, ntes, Kemp and Feasa Enterprises,” added Tom.
For companies or entrepreneurs considering Limerick as a location for their business, Tom advised: “Come and take a look and immerse yourself in the city for a couple of days. Talk to the people that have been here a long time, e.g. Dell, and people like ourselves who have just arrived. You have got to get on the ground here in order to truly appreciate what the city and all its various supports have to offer.
“The help was critically important but I have to single out the brilliant support we received from Niall O’Callaghan, Fiona Reilly and the team at IDA Ireland,” concluded Tom.
