Limerick Chamber has welcomed today’s decision by An Bord Pleanála to grant planning permission for the Opera Site as a decisive moment for the future of the city and region. Having spoken in favour of the development at the An Bord Pleanála oral hearing last December, Dee Ryan CEO, Limerick Chamber welcomed the decision and said "Today’s news ensures that this long awaited, much discussed and critical project for Limerick will happen.

“Opera is essential in developing our urban vision for Limerick and will provide the scale of office space required by large companies who want to consider a city centre location. The increased number of workers it will house will drive more footfall and new spending power into the city.

"I was delighted to speak in favour of the project on behalf of our members because it’s critical to ensure the rebirth that has been happening in Limerick over the past decade, goes to a new level.

“Strong cities drive regional economies, and the Mid West economy needs a vibrant Limerick City to enable it step up to the challenge. The Opera Site will be a key catalyst for this and we congratulate everyone on the team for finally getting the project to a stage where it’s development is now a certainty.”
