The recreational facilities on offer in Limerick are unparalleled in Ireland. Scenes of the streets of Limerick awash in red celebrating Munster’s infamous 2nd European Title are familiar throughout Ireland and the redevelopment of Thomond Park is an exciting new addition to the City.
However the city has much more than rugby on offer. Limerick has a long and proud history in both hurling and football with our hurling team reaching the All-Ireland final in 2007.
The University Arena is Ireland 's largest indoor sports complex which includes a 50m indoor swimming pool as well as world class weight and running training facilities. Lahinch (which is within easy commute of the city) offers one of the best surfing beaches in Europe.
And along the banks of the River Shannon, which runs through the heart of the city, are the many rowing clubs, one of which produced the World number one, Sam Lynch in 2001 and 2002.
