Riverfest judges ready to crown the winners of Ireland’s largest BBQ event

Riverfest judges have been selected to crown the best BBQ-ers of Ireland for this year’s May Bank Holiday Festival, with an overall cash prize of €1,000 up for grabs!

The Coors Light Riverfest BBQ Competition judging panel include, Mayor of the City and County of Limerick, Councillor Kevin Sheahan, co-owner of Limerick’s Best Gastro Pub of 2014, Brian Murphy from Curragower Bar and Restaurant, President of the Irish Barbecue Association, Paddy Murphy and Coors Light Limerick City representative Jim Fitzgerald.

Mayor Sheahan said he couldn’t wait to celebrate Riverfest.

“I can think of no better way to spend the May Bank Holiday Weekend than joining friends, family, colleagues and people from all over Ireland here in Limerick.”

Brian Murphy of Curragower is looking for a good mix of original tastes and cooking skills.

“I am a big BBQ fan, so I will be looking for a long slow smoked cooking process, good condiments, and a good selection of authentic coleslaws.”

President of the IBA, Paddy Murphy is happy to return to the world renowned barbeque city.

“We are very pleased to be involved in Riverfest this year and to continue with the tradition of Limerick being the centre of World BBQ.”

Coors Light representative Jim Fitzgerald said he’s delighted to be involved in this year’s event.

“This is the 3rd year that our brand, Coors Light, has sponsored the BBQ at Riverfest and we are delighted to see both the BBQ and the entire festival go from strength to strength.”
