Limerick is a city where sport transcends all class boundaries and where ‘the docker and the doctor compete in the field of sport on an equal footing’. The support and passion for sport are the key ingredients which have made Limerick Ireland’s true sporting capital.

In recognition of our strong sporting culture, Limerick has been awarded the prestigious accolade of European City of Sport 2011.

During 2011 there will be an exciting calendar of events and the city will be alive to the excitement and passion of a full year’s sporting festival.
