Language Alive Week
17th-23rd October 2011
Limerick’s inaugural Language Alive Week is a week-long calendar of events enabling people of all ages and nationalities to join and celebrate the diversity and vibrancy of language in their community by participating in an event that brings language alive, helps to connect communities and breaks down communication and cultural barriers.
Limerick is a city and county with a rich historical heritage and a long and proud tradition of storytelling, poetry, and music. Key to this tradition has been the language of its people.
In recent years, Limerick has welcomed many new residents and communities, bringing a rich new source of language, culture and tradition. Language in Limerick has never been so vibrant and dynamic and Limerick Language Alive seeks to celebrate this.
Limerick Language Alive Week seeks to bring the language of community, business, public services, sports, politics, and arts alive through a range of diverse and dynamic mediums.
