Limerick City and County Council (Comhairle Cathrach agus Contae Luimnigh) is the authority responsible for local government in the City of Limerick and County Limerick in Ireland.
It came into operation on 1st June 2014 after the 2014 local elections.
It is a merger of Limerick City Council and Limerick County Council under the provisions of the Local Government Reform Act 2014.
Administration
The city and county administration is headed by Chief Executive, Dr. Pat Daly. The corporate headquarters are based in Merchant’s Quay, Limerick.
The organisation has 1,192 staff as of February 2015.
Mayor
Councillor Gerald Mitchell is the Mayor of the City and County of Limerick.
He was elected to the position at the annual meeting of Limerick City and County Council on 30th June 2023.

Electoral Areas & Councillors
Prior to the merger, the two Councils had eight electoral areas and 45 councillors.
Limerick City and County Council now has six electoral areas (three in the metropolitan district of Limerick) and the other three are in Adare-Rathkeale, Newcastle West and Cappamore-Kilmallock and 40 councillors as follows:
