Education

For families with children, Limerick has a wide choice of highly-acclaimed Montessori, primary and second level public and private schools and dedicated tutorial centres. As a participant in TELS (Towards a European Learning City), Limerick, acknowledges the role of learning in the development of Limerick and its inhabitants.

At both primary and secondary level, Limerick has a wide range of schools for pupils between the ages of 4 and 18. There are 33 Primary Schools in Limerick City, the total enrolment is 7,081. There are 15 Secondary Schools in Limerick City, the total enrolment is 8,154.

These are added to by special interest schools, such as the Islamic Cultural Centre, Gaelscoileanna (Irish speaking), educate together and special needs schools. Limerick is an established University City with highly regarded educational establishments, namely the University of Limerick , Limerick Institute of Technology, Mary Immaculate College and the Limerick School of Art and Design.
