The happiest days of their lives turn into a nightmare for newlyweds Kaska and Janusz in this chaotic
black comedy about Love, corruption and barrels of vodka. Father of the bride Wiestaw Wonjnar has one
goal: to give his daughter the most memorable wedding in the village. Unfortunately, the catering is
awful, the guests almost drown in vodka, the bride’s grandfather locks himself in the loo and dies of a
heart attack, the bride’s mother runs off with her husband’s best friend, a hit man cuts off Wieslaw’s
finger and someone else steals all his money.


The Syrian Bride: - Middle East- 2004

In 2000 Mona (Clara Khoury), a young Druze woman (Levantine ethnic/religious community) living on
the Golan Heights, now under Israeli control, is about to marry a successful actor in Syria. Following the
hostilities between Israel and Syria border is closed. Crossing of the border is extremely rare as it is only
granted by both sides under special circumstances. When Mona crosses she will not be able to return to
her family on the Golan even to visit. Mona is a bit hesitant also because she doesn’t know her husbandto-
be.


Monsoon Wedding: - India- 2001

Acclaimed film maker Mira Nair explores a contemporary, global India where the new “dot.com”
society coexists with traditional values. The ensemble comedy celebrates the bringing together of
members.


Price and reservation
Tickets are €5 for the employed and €3 for the unemployed including food
tasting and refreshment.A fee waiver can be discussed with Doras Integration and
Intercultural Officer (details at the back of leaflet).
